This programme is designed for personnel who are responsible for supervising the movement of vehicles and pedestrians safely on a site. This course aims to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the hazards associated with moving vehicles on a site, how to provide and maintain safe access routes for pedestrians and vehicles; through the implementation of effective control measures in order to reduce risks to their health.
This programme is delivered using classroom- based tutorials with a high proportion of hands- on demonstrations and practical exercises.
Accreditation – Akan Technical Training
Duration – 1/2 day
Validation – there is no expiry date on vehicle banksman certificates, however it is highly recommended that you attend a refresher course every 3 years.
Entry requirements – there are no formal entry requirements. However, the delegate is to be proficient in English (written and oral).

– Understand the need for risk assessment
– Understand the importance of keeping reversing areas clear
– Demonstrate proficiency in the use the of hand signals
– Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Hi-visibility clothing.
Further developments / qualifications – the delegate will gain further knowledge in the secure passing of reversing vehicles in confined spaces. They will be able to recognise areas of danger on site. They will learn all the suggested codes of signals. With these skills, they will be able to guide both articulated and rigid large good vehicles.
