This course is designed for anyone who will need to provide immediate action to a victim/colleague with an illness or injury until the designated first aider/medical professional is present. The course will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessments indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only is adequate for your work place. The EFAW course is also recommended for the minimum level of training for people working in a low-risk environment.
This course is suitable for anyone wanting to become an accredited first aider or appointed first aid person, or anyone who is wanting to gain basic knowledge of emergency first aid.

Duration – 1 day
Validation – Highfield and QualSafe certificates are valid for 3 years, however it is highly recommended that all appointed first aid personnel take a refresher course annually.
Entry requirements – there are no formal entry requirements.

Course objectives – by the end of the course, delegates will:
– understand the principles of first aid.
– be knowledgeable on the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency.
– know the correct method of basic life support
– know how to use an AED and the chain of survival
Certification of the Emergency First Aid Course is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student. Assessments will be carried through out, with observation along with some written exercises. Whilst the written elements are straightforward, candidates require a basic command of English.
